Currently packing for yet another trip - this time to go to a conference in Sheffield until Friday.
Nothing but wall to wall psychologists! π¬ It’s the annual occupational psychology conference, organised by the British Psychological Society. And it looks like I’m going to be a busy bee.
I’m a discussant in a panel session on evidence-based practice, and I’m also co-facilitating a workshop on coaching skills. But that’s all on one day, so for the rest, I’m free to go to the sessions I’m interested in.
Waiting on our flight back to London and enjoying the blue skies over Vienna.
Itβs been a fantastic weekend and Iβve nearly walked off my little legs! Iβll definitely be back, if only to go inside of all the beautiful museums I walked past this time. Couldnβt bear being indoors while the weather was so nice.
But for now, the fun is over and itβs time to head home.
Right now, Iβm all about the airline lounge here at Vienna Airport.
I’m off to Vienna this evening, to (hopefully) enjoy a Bank Holiday weekend in the sun. But first, I have to go back to hospital, for yet another test.
Thankfully, it’s just an MRI, so all I have to cope with is boredom. Hopefully.
This time, two months ago, I was having one of the best birthdays ever. I started the day with a friend in a private onsen in beautiful Hakone, Japan. A long, peaceful soak, looking out at the local forest and mountains.
I haven’t taken the boat and train between Dublin and London since I was about 19, but this article in The Guardian has been interested in trying it again.
Yes, it can be cheaper than flying, but for me, it’s the chance of having the guts of a day to make the journey, take in some scenery, and read a good book. All while avoiding the stress of navigating airports, traveling to and from airports and dealing with airport security.
After this morning’s gorgeous sunshine and warmth in Mallorca, returning to London’s grim and damp atmosphere is rather a buzzkill. Time for some warming soup!
Drove out to Puerto Portals, home of the super yachts and badly-parked German sports cars.
The people are often unbearable - loud, garish and ostentatiously wealthy - but it’s the place to get the best pizza in Mallorca. So we did. And now I can barely walk. I’m approximately 98% cheese.
Absolutely demolished some delicious Beef and Guinness pie, followed by amazing ginger cake and washed down with champagne. Even if my flight is cancelled again, I’ve had a lovely lunch.
Well. After three flight cancellations yesterday evening, I’m still in London.
At least I got to sleep in my own bed last night, unlike many visitors who had to go and find a hotel bed in London at short notice. We’ve been booked onto a 3pm flight from Heathrow this afternoon, when we can try all over again.
Weather happens, cancellations happen. But the British Airways lack of information, support and even basic manners rubbed salt into the wounds of every passenger stuck in the airport.
I just spotted the Apple WWDC 2024 announcement and quickly opened my calendar to put the keynote in, so I can watch along live.
This geek has to know immediately how Apple are introducing new bells and whistles to all my favourite apps. But horror of horrors, I’m not going to be able to watch live!
A quick look at my calendar shows me I’m actually going to be in the middle of Sitges Pride, so I think sitting in front of a tech keynote is going to be the last thing on my mind.
After patting myself on the back for getting a good night’s sleep each night this week, I found myself wide awake at 5am this morning.
I’ve stayed in bed with coffee, watched the sun rise over London, and done some research for our upcoming weekend in Tallinn, Estonia. It’s been on my travel wish list for some time, so I’m thrilled we’ve finally booked it.
I’m looking forward to exploring another European capital, visiting some of its many museum and (inevitably) spending time in some of its many saunas.
