Currently packing for yet another trip - this time to go to a conference in Sheffield until Friday.
Nothing but wall to wall psychologists! ๐ฌ It’s the annual occupational psychology conference, organised by the British Psychological Society. And it looks like I’m going to be a busy bee.
I’m a discussant in a panel session on evidence-based practice, and I’m also co-facilitating a workshop on coaching skills. But that’s all on one day, so for the rest, I’m free to go to the sessions I’m interested in.
It’s always nice to catch up with my peers - some of whom I only ever see in person at this particular conference. I’ve already booked in two dinners with colleagues for just that kind of catching up. And thankfully I’ll be home by 5pm Friday.
And if previous conferences are anything to go by, slightly tired and worse for wear.
๐ธ Snapped while in Vienna - an important message in the toilets of a bar we visited.
๐ธ Snapped while in Vienna last weekend.
I’m not a car person (I don’t even drive) but this is a thing of beauty.
๐ธ I absolutely adored Vienna’s many parks
โ๏ธ A Viennese whirl - adventure’s in Austria’s beautiful capital
Waiting on our flight back to London and enjoying the blue skies over Vienna.
Itโs been a fantastic weekend and Iโve nearly walked off my little legs! Iโll definitely be back, if only to go inside of all the beautiful museums I walked past this time. Couldnโt bear being indoors while the weather was so nice.
But for now, the fun is over and itโs time to head home.
Right now, Iโm all about the airline lounge here at Vienna Airport. Spacious, peaceful and some deliciousious mint-infused water on tap.
A pleasant change from all the fried schnitzel and Austrian beer!
๐ธ Vienna: the view from here. Looking forward to a day of exploring, of coffee and of course, cake!
Another day of two halves…
I’m off to Vienna this evening, to (hopefully) enjoy a Bank Holiday weekend in the sun. But first, I have to go back to hospital, for yet another test.
Thankfully, it’s just an MRI, so all I have to cope with is boredom. Hopefully.
๐ฅณ Birthday memories:
This time, two months ago, I was having one of the best birthdays ever. I started the day with a friend in a private onsen in beautiful Hakone, Japan. A long, peaceful soak, looking out at the local forest and mountains.

Seems like a lifetime ago now. But less than two weeks until my next trip: Vienna!

I haven’t taken the boat and train between Dublin and London since I was about 19, but this article in The Guardian has been interested in trying it again.
Yes, it can be cheaper than flying, but for me, it’s the chance of having the guts of a day to make the journey, take in some scenery, and read a good book. All while avoiding the stress of navigating airports, traveling to and from airports and dealing with airport security.
After this morning’s gorgeous sunshine and warmth in Mallorca, returning to London’s grim and damp atmosphere is rather a buzzkill. Time for some warming soup!
Amazingly, we took off from Mallorca on time and landed in London on time.
I’m stunned.
It was an uneventful journey and I passed the time getting stuck into ‘Three Body Problem’ on my iPad Mini.
Now back home, all unpacked, and awaiting a groceries delivery so we can eat dinner!
Refuelling in the Sala VIP before our flight back to London. And they have one of my favourite non-alcohol beers! ๐บ
Currently packing and getting ready for our return flight to London. Hoping it’s nothing like the outbound catastrophe!
But first, a final delicious breakfast here in the hotel, then swinging by the in-laws' for a coffee and goodbyes.
๐ธ Good morning from a very sunny Mallorca.
Looking forward to lying back in the sun after breakfast.
On our way back from this evening’s pizza extravaganza, I had to stop and take some photos: the sky was just spectacular.
Drove out to Puerto Portals, home of the super yachts and badly-parked German sports cars.
The people are often unbearable - loud, garish and ostentatiously wealthy - but it’s the place to get the best pizza in Mallorca. So we did. And now I can barely walk. I’m approximately 98% cheese.
๐ธ Proof that we had some sunshine while in Mallorca (even if Iโm sheltering from the rain now)
Hello from Mallorca.
The sun is coming and going but I donโt mind. I have a great view and bottomless Sondheim playing in my ears. Plus a poolside bar mere steps awayโฆ
๐ธ The view from here: on approach to Palma de Mallorca
๐ธ A damp and grim morning here in Madrid Barajas โ๏ธ
๐ธ If nobody else shows up, Iโm lying down for this flight.
Next stop: Mallorca. Hopefully.
