London Life

๐Ÿ“ธ I stepped out onto the balcony to check out the beautiful sunset. It’s strangely quiet outside, considering it’s London in rush hour. No complaints from me - I’ll take it!

๐Ÿ“ธ There are blue skiesโ€ฆ right above the mass of clouds.

๐Ÿ“ธ After a day marked by grey skies, torrential rain and some very, very low mood, London has come up trumps and delivered me a beautiful sunset.

I’m currently watching the sky change colour while sipping another honey and lemon infused hot drink, and planning my retirement to bed with a hot whiskey and an iPad.

This was supposed to be convenient...

๐Ÿ›’ Sainsbury’s really excelling at groceries delivery this evening: Substituting vegetarian sausages instead of falafel. Substituting ‘baby courgettes’ for two large aubergines. Substituting pre-cooked ‘chicken bites’ (I dread to think) for an entire chicken. Delivering โ€ฆ

๐Ÿ“ธ The new seating area in Middle Dock, Canary Wharf has finally opened.

And yes, it would have been better during the summer, it’s still nice to have another space to sit by the water. I hope it’s the first of a few similar projects in the area. The whole neighbourhood is desperately in need of more greenery and trees.

You can find out more about Eden Dock here.

When Sunday means 'pause'.

๐Ÿ“ธ The view from here. Definitely having a lazy afternoon today. I’m researching a planned visit to Hong Kong and Taipei next year. Doing some online shopping. Planning for the work week ahead. All from my armchair. With no plans to leave the apartment whatsoever. I’ve a slightly quieter โ€ฆ

This is turning into one of those Sundays where I just don’t get dressed at all. I’m showered, have done some housework, and had brunch. But there’s still no good reason to get dressed - I’m not planning on leaving the apartment today.

โ˜•๏ธ Time for brunch. Smoked salmon bagels. ๐Ÿฅฏ

๐Ÿ“ธ Amazing! Iโ€™m actually sitting in the sunshine on our balcony. So nice of the sun to appear at the same time as the weekend.

๐Ÿ“ธ Intrigued by the new floating islands in Canary Wharf.

And the new ‘residents’ who’ve take up residence in Middle Dock. Hope the local wildlife leave them be…

โฐ I suppose, compared to 5am, 6:30am is an improvement. But it’s still far too early to be awake on a Saturday morning. At least the weather seems a lot better today. And I nowhere to be anytime soon. So I can enjoy this coffee and catch up with the news.

๐Ÿ“ธ Another stunning London sunset. No filters or edits. Shot on an iPhone 15 Pro. I could look at this view for the rest of my life and not get bored.

๐Ÿ“ธ The sun coming through my bedroom window is making my bed extra gay!

๐Ÿ“ธ After a morning of wind and torrential rain, the sun has reappeared over London. The perfect start to the weekend.

๐Ÿ“ธ This lady just sailed gracefully past my apartment building, heading into Central London.

๐Ÿชฉ The good news continues! My other half managed to get us tickets to see Kylie when she comes to London next May.

๐Ÿ“ธ Wow, this beauty just sailed past our apartment, at quite an impressive speed! Now I need to look up what it is and why it’s here.

๐Ÿ“ธ Looking forward to this being opened to the public soon. The whole project has changed the face of most people’s first experience of Canary Wharf: the space outside the tube station.

๐Ÿ“ธ Nice new signage in Canary Wharf. Loving all the new developments in Middle Dock and canโ€™t wait for the walkway to be open.

๐Ÿบ Enjoying a beer out on the balcony and slowly relaxing into weekend mode. Soaking up all this sunshine before itโ€™s gone!

๐Ÿ“ธ A gorgeous, if slightly hazy, view over London this evening.

๐Ÿ“ธ Some very welcome sunshine and blue skies over London this morning.

๐Ÿ“ธ Our new Samsung TV displaying a very beautiful Japanese triptych. The whole thing is just so much more visually appealing than the monstrous Sky Glass we had previously.

๐Ÿ“ธ Another grey day here in London

๐Ÿ’ป A summary of what I did, thought and experienced this week:

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป That was the week that was…002

๐Ÿฆฎ I got to spend yesterday afternoon with these lovely girls. The best behaved, most affectionate dogs I know. There’s nothing quite like a Labrador snuggling up against your legs to go to sleep. Beautiful creatures.

โšก๏ธ๐ŸŒฉ๏ธโ›ˆ๏ธ Ooof. Thatโ€™s some impressive thunder and lightning over London right now. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ A little too close to home here on the 35th floor.

๐Ÿ“ธ Umm… what happened to summer in London? Hard to see in this photo, but in addition to the grey/brown sky, it’s also raining.

๐Ÿง Pub quiz update: our team came second! Amazed I was able to wrench some of the answers from the recesses of my memory. We shall return!

โœˆ๏ธ Considering airborne productivity

A brief layover at home before heading out after dinner to a local pub quiz. If I’m honest, I’d much prefer to stay in and get some more work done ahead of this weekend’s holidays. But I’ve agreed, so I’ll have to make the most of it. It’s a nice bunch of friends โ€ฆ
