With our hoped-for moving in date a little over a month away, preparations for leaving this apartment continue.
This morning, the task was to disassemble a bookcase and desk in the study. Both too big for the study in the new apartment, @TheFrankFlyer sold them on eBay and the buyer was due to pick them up today.
It’s obviously been a while since we first assembled the furniture and suddenly, its weight came flooding back. Even though it only took us an hour to take apart, we had to work hard to angle it out the doorway into our hall – avoiding chipping paint or wood on the way.
I’m glad to see the back of it, frankly. A bit of an impulse purchase, the desk was a poor ergonomic solution, and we both ended up with neck and back pain after using it for any length of time.
I’m typing this on the new desk we bought for our new home – and it’s a delight. More of a solid, mid-century design, it’s large enough for a god-sized monitor, a MacBook Pro in a dock, a printer, a HomePod and a lamp. The set up now is very temporary, given we’re due to move so soon. But it’s nice to sit at it all the same.
Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s time to get ready to go to the pub for a friend’s birthday drinks. I’ll claim the ensuring beers are all well-deserved, given this morning’s manual labour. 🤣
