After a rotten night’s sleep, I found myself at work on my laptop at 6:30am this morning. It wasn’t even intentional; I just sat down to read the news with a coffee and found myself reading emails.
Naughty.
So, a little after 3pm, I realised I’d already put in a very good day at work and so packed up and came home. I’ve started cooking dinner and now I’m enjoying time on the sofa with a drink and a podcast. Later, we’ll have friends over for a meal, but for the next couple of hours, I can just rest.
No rolling news for me this afternoon – I’ll catch up later on. Doom-scrolling isn’t going to improve anything.
So here I am, feet up before 6pm, still admiring last weekend’s pedicure, glad I listened to my body and walked away from another few hours at work. There’ll always be more work to do. It’s up to me to apply boundaries. As we head into a much-needed Spring, self-care is going to be at the top of my list.
Wow. Good for you! This is something I would never allow myself to do, and I’m so glad you did it. I can imagine those hours you took back for yourself must have felt like such an indulgence! 🙂
