I treated myself to a burrito from our nearby Tortilla eatery earlier this evening and, I have to say, it was just what I needed.
Delicious beef, guacamole, beans, rice and cheese. All wrapped in a perfect flour tortilla, washed down with a single can of Brewdog’s Lightspeed IPA. Comfort food at its very best.
Now bear in mind I’ve been avoiding junk food like mad for weeks and this is my first take-out in some time. I also avoided getting tortilla chips or any other sides and stuck to the essentials.
Oh. My. Dog. It was like a symphony for the mouth. An explosion of taste. A little slice of culinary heaven on my plate and I grinned like a maniac all the way through it. I’m still smiling as I type this. With little else to get excited about at the moment, little treats like this stand out.
As does the prospect of seeing a friend in the outdoors on Thursday after work, when we’ll stand like students of yesteryear, enjoying a can of beer on a park bench. See what you’ve done to me, Coronavirus?! But it’s not about the surroundings. It’s about the company and the semblance of normality. And I can’t wait.
