We had flurries of snow in London yesterday, but I woke up this morning to blue skies and brilliant sunshine. After a day of hunkering down and keeping warm, it was time to get outside and soak up some sun, so I headed out for a walk before work.
I tend to avoid the Thames Path at the weekend as it’s a bit of an arsehole magnet. People walking four abreast, cycles treating it like a training ground and dogs off the leash. It’s all a bit stressful.
But this morning, before 9am, it was a delight. I wandered down the path from Canary Wharf as far as Wapping and then back. Very few cyclists (I know, not all cyclists) and no groups blocking the shared space.
The sunshine was such a welcome break from dark, grey skies. I listened to a favourite tech podcast and got into a nice walking rhythm. There and back was about 5.5km and a great way to get the blood pumping before a day sat in front of a webcam.
Don’t get me wrong. While it was sunny, it was still freezing cold, and I was thankful for my excellent Uniqlo thermals! They kept me toasty and made the walk so much more enjoyable.
With rain forecast for later this afternoon (of course) I’m glad I got out and enjoyed the sunshine while I could. The perfect way to start a new week.
More great photos!
