(Beer) Advent Day Seven: Lightspeed

You’re probably not counting, but if you are, you’ll notice this is a day late. I skipped my advent calendar beer yesterday evening as I was feeling ill and, surprising myself, agreed that a beer was probably not what was needed.

So here I am, a day late, but feeling much better, once again delighted by the contents of what Brewdog packaged up for me. Day seven of the advent calendar contained ‘Light Speed’, which is excellent for being both delicious and only 95 calories per can. For an IPA, that’s nothing!

From Brewdog:

Lightspeed is a 4% hazy pale ale with just 95 calories per can. The all-star hop profile featuring Cascade, Centennial, Citra and Nelson Sauvin conjures flavours of apricot and peach, with hints of citrus fruits and light floral notes refracting off the delicate malt base.

I can definitely identify with that. The fruity notes leapt out of the can as soon as I opened it. It’s very drinkable, busting all my preconceptions of a lower calorie beer. I’ll definitely be adding this to my regular order (once I’ve made it through the two advent calendars and several crates of Speedbird I’ve ordered).
