I’m once again awaiting the delivery of a new Apple gadget. This time, it’s a new MacBook Pro, ordered as soon as the Apple event finished on Tuesday last week. It arrives tomorrow and I couldn’t be more excited.
Yes, yes I’m more of an iPad guy. My 11″ iPad Pro gets used daily, primarily for taking notes at work and reading, but it’s a decent laptop replacement for much of the stuff I need to do. Just not all.
Add to that the fact that my MacBook is 5 years old and beginning to creak slightly under the weight of macOS Big Sur. The new laptop is being partially funded by the sale of the old and I was surprised (and obviously delighted) to secure over £400 for it from the good folks at Music Magpie.
And while I haven’t been thinking about it much these past few days, last night’s update from Apple that it was on the way has me refreshing the courier page to see if it’s any closer.
We make our own fun during a lockdown pandemic, don’t we…
Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing just how speedy this new M1 chip is and how smoothly Big Sur runs on it. I’m the first to admit that I may well have been taken in by Apple’s super slick marketing last week. But I’m also aware that a new laptop is a sort of optimistic symbol of future business travel in 2021.
We can but hope.
