A welcome bump up!

This past week was a terrific mix of busy, exciting and playing to my strengths. I admit to being a little anxious this time last week, but by the time I got home last night, I was very happy with how it had all gone.

A day of coaching, a wellbeing workshop, a full day of teaching, a leadership workshop in London, a team-building session just outside Dublin. Somehow, I managed to fit it all in. And it all worked and I’m feeling fine.

Though I wouldn’t want to work like that every week. So a nice, quiet weekend is called for.

In Ireland, the highlight was staying overnight in an amazing hotel in Maynooth. Carton House is pure luxury from start to finish and I’m only sorry I didn’t get to stay another day or two.

It’s a beautiful country house estate – including a spa and two golf courses – and the room I tan my workshop in was something to behold! And obviously, I was very pleased with my bedroom – as the smug grin above illustrates!

I arrived in the evening, so I didn’t have time to see the estate in the sunshine. Nor did I have enough time to use the spa facilities. All I wanted was a room service meal, a shower and an early  night. I would definitely like to return for a break, but I’m already wondering just how shockingly expensive it is. Maybe I’ll save it up for a special occasion.

The following day I flew back to London and even though it’s only an hour in the air, I was surprised and delighted by a free upgrade to Business Class. It meant I got dinner on board and could relax with a little champagne. But only a little, as I was teaching all day on the Friday.

I have to say – the onboard food has improved considerably on British Airways. It was very tasty (salmon and potato salad) and the champagne was a lovely accompaniment.

My teaching went well and by the time I got home, all I could think of was to shed some clothes and lie on the couch for a while. @TheFrankFlyer cooked us an amazing chicken and noodles dish, and once I’d had that, it was pretty much lights out for me.

After a much better night’s sleep than I have had all week, it was time for coffee, more coffee and a trip to the gym. I’m surprised my key fob let me in, as it’s been so long since I last visited. But I somehow managed to remember how the machines worked and potentially burned off half of what I’m planning to consume for lunch.

Anyway, futility aside, it’s a great mood booster.

It’s nice when the week’s activities align with my interests and strengths. Plus, all my travel went according to plan and I enjoyed myself far more than I’d anticipated. And as I type this, the sun has just made an appearance from behind some pretty grim-looking clouds.

I shall take that as a positive omen that the good times will continue through the weekend!

Carton House _is_ lovely, but you will definitely need your cheque book! I’ve never stayed but I’ve attended a few events there. Those ceilings are quite unique, and worth another look, by the way!
