Sunshine flashback

This day, exactly two years ago…

I was enjoying this view, looking from our hotel balcony towards Sitges town. An excelent Easter-time break in the sun – lots of cocktails, late nights and mornings spent recovering on the naturist beach next door.

Then early evenings on this balcony, continuing to sunbathe, while sipping on something cold and making dinner plans. A slow walk into town, chatting and laughing, followed by copious people-watching over drinks in the square. Finally, a delicious meal – with more of the people-watching – and definitely more laughter.

I know it’s repetitive: we go there every year, as this blog can attest. But also, it’s one of my absolute favourite spots in Europe, full stop. It’s somewhere @TheFrankFlyer and I relax almost completely and it’s basically two hours from London. With the sunshine, food and excellent beach, what’s not to love?

I can’t wait to get back there for Sitges Pride in June! Yes, I’ll be missing the World Naked Bike Ride in London, but I’ll be enjoying the sunshine, food and laughter I get in Sitges every time. Not much of a sacrifice!

And now that I have a new work contract in Barcelona, I don’t see why I can’t extend one of my summertime visits into another weekend on the beach in Sitges. Only seems fair…

I’m feeling quite sun-deprived at the moment. The London weather lulled us all into a fall sense of security earlier this week, but then the clouds and chilling wind returned with a vengeance. I’d love some uninterrupted sun and the chance to lie down in it.

Or even to just turn my face up to it and enjoy the warmth for a few minutes.

  1. Being self-employed means you can take a work week into a play weekend!
