The present heatwave is really welcome. I love the sun and I love being out in the heat. We get far too little of either in London, as far as I’m concerned.
But the past few nights have been so hot, I’ve barely slept. And this is with all the windows open and fans creating some movement in the air.
It’s a familiar pattern…
I wake up due to the heat, then I notice the noise coming from the fan (the one in our bedroom is and enormous chrome beast) and then I focus on the noise, meaning I can’t get back to sleep.
I then end up reading for a couple of hours, falling asleep at some point, after which the 6am alarm goes through my brain like a knife through butter. I’ve been wandering around in a bit of a sleep deprived haze this week. Thankfully, right now I’m in Dublin for work, staying in my favourite hotel and enjoying the air conditioning.
I’ll definitely need my wits about me for work tomorrow.
And, as it’s the 4th of July, I’m going to celebrate with a ginormous burger for dinner. I’m not American, I just like any excuse to order the burger here.
Bonus smile points came this afternoon when I discovered the ‘free pints’ vouchers this hotel gave me months ago, when the gym was unexpectedly shut during a previous visit. Irony? Pints for lack of exercise? Anyway, I found them in my notebook and will put them to good use this evening.
Free pints and a burger and a cool bedroom tonight?
Sounds like a win to me!
Enjoy! (Although you don’t need me to remind you to do so!) 🙂 Naked hugs!
