40 days until Tokyo!

Today marks the 40-day countdown to my next trip to Tokyo and to say I’m excited is an understatement.

We’re going to firstly spend an evening in Schiphol Airport’s Hilton Hotel and then fly to Tokyo the following morning with Finnair, via Helsinki. This was how I got to Tokyo when I brought my nephew, back in July, and it’s a very civilised way to make the long journey.

The service on Finnair is fantastic and the couple of hours’ break in Helsinki is lovely. I may even try out the sauna in the Finnair lounge this time! I’ve read great things about it.

It may well help me sleep on the second leg of the journey. Mind you, the delicious champagne cocktails Finnair serve in Business Class are bound to contribute to some shut-eye too!

Once again, we’re going to base ourselves in the Hilton Tokyo in Shinjuku – the perfect spot from which to explore the city, as it’s so close to Shinjuku station. From there, you can get pretty much anywhere.

Unlike our visit back in September, when we toured several cities (and I still need to write up some of our fantastic experiences!), we’re going to stick to Tokyo, as we’ll only be there for a week. But as you’ll know from my previous posts about Tokyo, there’s an unending list of experiences you can enjoy there and no real need to leave the city unless you want to.

I’m looking forward to indulging in the spectacular food, the exhausting nightlife in Shinjuku Ni-Chome, the relaxing time I’ll spend in the Onsen and the general buzz you get from spending time in Tokyo.

As I’ve said before, it’s a surprisingly relaxing place for somewhere that’s both so busy and so heavily-populated.

40 days and counting!

Happy travels 🙂
